As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The author must certify in a document attached to the article stating that the work has not been previously published, neither presented to other journal
  • The upload is in Word format.
  • The text is in letter size page, with an extension no longer that 30 pages, single space, using Arial font 12; italic is used instead of underlined (exception made in URL links); and all pictures, figures, charts and graphs are located in the proper place within the text.
  • The text complies with the style and bibliographic requisites, detailed in the editorial guidelines, showed in the menu bar (About us”)
  • A statement that the article has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere or to be published in websites, electronic books or others is attached.
  • It considers a summary or abstract in Spanish, Portuguese and English no longer than 15 lines. And five key words in both languages separated by semicolon
  • In case of interview, an Informed Consent form is attached, and must be upload in step 4 "Upload Complementary files".
  • URL links for bibliographic references are included

Articles Submission

Articles submitted to be published in the Journal must meet the following requisites: be original, exclusives, unpublished, and exclusive, and must be uploaded through this website, following the steps indicated in http://www.politicayestrategia.cl/index.php/rpye/about/submissions#onlineSubmissions

Each manuscript must be accompanied by a statement that it has not been published elsewhere and that it has not been submitted simultaneously for publication elsewhere or to be published in websites, electronic books or others.  

Besides the email address, you should add the ORCID iD, if you don't have it, you can visit https://orcid.org/ to get one.

If during the writing of the article was necessary to interview someone there must be sent attached the  Informed Consent form.

The journal does not charge for the publishing of the manuscripts, and the authors keep the copyright of their works.

The works can come in Spanish, English or Portuguese, however abstracts and key words in the three languages should be considered, regardless of the language of the main body of the work.

Already published articles, translated published articles and plagiarism is not allowed. None of the data included in the manuscripts should be invented, nor manipulated, distorted or plagiarized.

The journal is supported with the DOCODE program, a software that automatically detects  plagiarism in digital texts, ensuring the originality of its contents.

The journal is published twice a year, the first publication is in July the second in December of each year, normally the works are received up to 60 days before the closing of each edition, that is, the end of May and the end of August. 

The concepts, approaches, and ideas exposed by the authors published in the journal, are their own responsibility and they do not represent necessarily the thought of the Academy.

In order to achieve a higher efficiency and accuracy in the publishing of the manuscripts received, is highly recommended to the authors to observe the following guidelines:

  • Original in letter size page, with an extension no longer than 30 pages, single space, written in Word format, Arial font 12.
  • All manuscripts must contain in the introduction the following items: Context specification, point out the problem to be studied, the directing questions, objectives, methodology and main findings, as well as preliminary conclusions if is from another typology as well as the approach. Must be clear, coherent and succinct.
  • Generically, the articles must contain an abstract, and keywords (separated by semicolon) in both Spanish and English as well as in Potuguese), introduction, main text, conclusions, bibliographic references and attachments if needed.
  • Photographs, graphics and or images within the text, will be only published if their purpose is to support or clarify the writing for a better understanding of the readers. It is highly recommended not to use graphs downloaded from the Internet due to its poor resolution that will not allow a neat and clear final printing, stating the name of the original authors (copyrights) or sources of the graphs or pictures presented.
  • All maps must be publishable, or with no restriction of copyright, neither conditions or special clearance by the Direction of Limits and Borders of Chile, of the Chilean Foreign Affairs Ministry.
  • If the inclusion of the elements above mentioned, is needed, for a better understanding of the writing, these materials must be handed physically in order to get a good printing resolution, indicating the source, and or the author, and copyright, attached to the manuscript indicating the page in which should be inserted.

The journal considers three sections: Articles, Present Issues and Trends, critiques, and chronicles.

  • Articles

This section covers research papers in two main categories: Essays in the field of political philosophy, political science and social sciences, and scientific monographs.

  • Present issues and trends

This section compiles all articles that directly tackle specific issues within the security and defense environment, domestic as well as internationally. This articles must follow the same guidelines as the ones described in the “work application” paragraph, and they will follow the same selection process.

Generally speaking, the conclusions of the articles should consider lessons that can be applied to the Chilean or regional case if it is applicable.

  • Essays

The essay is a literary genre that is characterized by allowing a particular subject to be developed in a free and personal way. Commonly, people write essays to express some opinion or idea, and without having to worry about sticking to a rigid drafting structure or documenting it exhaustively, in general, you should consider the following structure:Introduction: where the subject and the form are presented in what will be addressed by the author; Analysis: It is the main content, where the arguments of the subject and Conclusions are presented: A final part to summarize what the essayist wanted to convey with his work.

  • Critiques and chronicles

This section contains critiques, chronicles. A Chronicle is a work that collects around a common topic, the subject – matter of different books recently published- The critique, is a summary of a book also recently published, connected with the security and defense, as well as International relations issues. The critique must tackle the core of the book in a summary as well as assess the quality of it, in order to guide the readers in the best way. It can not be longer than three pages, and must also consider:

•     Name of the book.

•      Author or authors

•       Editorial

•       Year and place of the edition

•        Number of pages

•        High-resolution image of the cover.

Bibliographic references and footnotes

1.  For footnotes and bibliographic references,  the ISO systems must be used, for reference can be used the manual  published on the website https://anepe.cl/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/NORMAS-ISO-ANEPE.pdf 

2.   The article must have a summary or abstract in Spanish, English and Portuguese no longer than 15 lines. Immediately after that, the authors must include keywords (five, separated by semicolon) in these three languages, to facilitate the search of the articles on the Internet. For example: “The mission of the Armed Forces in the combat against jihadist terrorism”. Keywords: jihadist; terrorism; asymmetric conflicts”.

3.   The key words, as well as the title of the article, must come in Spanish, English and Portuguese,(five, separated by semicolon).

4.   Due to the fact that the journal is “online”, and according to ISSN norms, when is used in other publications or refer to her, the sentence “Polit.estrateg.(En línea)”.

5.   A short resume of the author or authors, must be included, indicating, workplace, country, e-mail address, academic degrees, phone number in order to ease the contact between the Editor and the authors. Although e-mail will be used mainly.

Manuscripts selection

All manuscripts in this journal will be undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and refereeing by three anonymous referees, of well-known academic experience in the area of the journal, both national and international, using double-blind refereeing) with scientific standards.

The reports are sent to the Editorial Board that decides whether to publish or not the manuscripts. The manuscripts that are not approved are mailed back to the authors.

Also, the Editorial Board can make minor observations to the authors in order that the manuscripts fulfill the editorial policy of the journal.
