Abstract

The following paper analyzes the Colombian security and defense policies, specifically regarding the changing nature of how the policies were designed between 2002 and 2012. The analysis of the three policies drafted during this time, is focused on the problems that arose (understood as threats) and the solutions (understood as the objectives) that were set by the government. The paper ́s conclusions show a coherent behavior in terms of security and defense, since the continuity and the changes aim towards maintaining the optimum level of security.
