THE GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION OF THE STATE AND ITS IMPLICATIONS IN THE CURRENT GLOBAL WORLD
Main Article Content
Abstract
This communication aims to demonstrate the validity of the theory of geographical determinism, postulated by Ratzel, in today's global world. If we agree that multilateralism has overcome the spaces that had been conquered by the defenders of hegemonic unilateralism, put to the test after the end of the Cold War, it could be concluded that, today, this postulate loses validity.
It is appreciable to observe the benefits that greater global political, economic and technological interdependence has brought to humanity, generating conditions that presage a more harmonious coexistence, centered on shared imaginaries and away from conflicts. So, how a geographical determinism could be sustained under these conditions? Consequently, this hypothesis will constitute the axis of the communication, seeking to demonstrate its full value.
