THE LIMITS OF THE AMERICAN MILITARY POWER

Main Article Content

Abstract

This article analyses the U.S. military intervention in Afghanistan and Iraq. These protracted campaigns have not only tested the American military might; but they have also revealed the changing face of conflict and the limitations of the so-called new American way of war born after the so called Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA). Those circumstances are compelling Washington to undertake a comprehensive review of the force and command structures, the catalogue of military capabilities, the global deployment plans, and to redefine the American defense transformation process as a means to provide the U.S. military with the necessary capabilities to meet the current and future challenges.
