THE CONTEMPORARY FRACTURE BETWEEN LOGOS AND POLIS. EPISTEMOLOGICAL INSIGHTS

Abstract

This article focus on the turning point political sciences has been aware of in the last decades, by which has broken up from its origin in order to search for his own epistemological identity in the milieu of the social sciences, with an essential empiricist idea of science, rather “positivist”. This is based on the conviction that the only valid knowledge, the only possible science is the one that comes from the observation of phenomena: there is only the science of the observed, of what can be quantifiable or measurable. Thus only the empiric would suffice to satisfy all the needs of the human being.  From this epistemological logic, two immediate consequences spring out. First, the unfeasibility of any dialog between ethics (social), and politics thus forgetting the fact that all reality properly human is essentially ethical. Secondly, is the separation between politics from any anthropological referent, leaving aside the human person, as principle, subject and ends of politics.  Because of that, political sciences today is threatened by a double temptation, from which the politologists not always have a clear perception: by one side to be fully absorbed by political sociology, becoming its object of study only the power, and by the other side, to be contaminated by the ideology.   In this article, the author focus on the epistemological backgrounds of political science, in the hypothesis of the work by which political sciences as an object of study belongs to the social ethics and not to the eld of social sciences. So its end and object is not and cannot be the power.
