THE CHANGES OF THE NORMS AND STRUCTURES OF THE DEFENSE IN SUDAMÉRICA: A COMPARATIVE VISION

Abstract
One of the most marked trends of defense policy comparative analysis in Latin America, after the Cold War, is the sanction of new laws and the reforms made in defense structures in various countries of the region. These reforms were aimed to end the consequences of the aforementioned conflict and strengthening the nascent democracy, as well as establishing civil control over the Armed Forces and modernizing their defense systems. The implementation of these new laws and reforms recognized difficulties and in some cases setbacks, but together it is an undeniable trend in the region.
