Abstract
In this last issue of the current year, we have tried to reflect upon the global uncertainty which affects, in one way or another, issues related to security and defense, both at international and national levels.
The tension between the great powers no longer exists only in the struggle for supremacy in the strategic environment, but also in the commercial area. This has led to events that affect the global economy and, thus, those of the countries that have a direct or indirect dependence on the great giants of the world economy. Along these same lines, other aspects of international security have taken on a new impetus, such as the expectations of a substantial improvement in relations between the Koreas, which gives us a window of optimism for that part of Asia, as well as the development of Colombia post agreement with the FARC. At the same time, aspects of multidimensional security, such as the trafficking of persons and jihadi terrorism, along with the new roles that armed forces can take beyond their fundamental task, have kept the international security agenda busy this year. We will address these topics in the pages of this issue.
