PERCEPTIONS ON THE RESPONSIBILITY TO PROTECT IN LATIN AMERICA

Main Article Content

Abstract

This article analyzes the development of the concept of the Responsibility to Protect, which does not yet enjoy consensus within the international community. It also defines the diverse positions that the countries of Latin America have adopted regarding this issue. In this sense, the idea that guides this work is the need for the region to reach basic agreements on particular issues of the multilateral debate, as in the case of the aforementioned notion of Responsibility to Protect, in order to support the insertion and international presence of Latin America in view of the increasingly multipolar scenario that is shaping the world.
