Abstract
The world continues to turn, and developing situations present challenges to allStates in the fields of Security and Defense. This has created a growing interestin the in-depth study of various issues that were not previously considered within national security and defense agendas. It is not surprising, then, that mass migration, global warming, and the resulting climate change are important topics of discussion on governmental agendas and that there is a growing concern for therole that the armed forces of various countries may play in them. Furthermore, in the environment of so-called “Fourth Generation wars”, the media and the news appear to be one more weapon that shapes and influences the world stage towards national interests and objectives without having to resort to armed conflict.
Issue N° 133 of this journal reviews these issues that are currently on institutional or governmental agendas, as well as others that are important for national decision- making processes related to aspects such as their sovereignty and the use of other means of diplomacy in order to strengthen national power and using capabilitiespossessed by the Armed Forces.
