THE FOURTH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION: TOWARDS A TRANSFORMATION OF NATIONAL DEFENCE LOGISTICS
Main Article Content
Abstract
We are in a digital world where it is not enough just to improve, it is necessary to “change” and in order to be competitive, not only technology is required, but also well educated and trained human resources, together with leaders ready to embark on the 4th Industrial Revolution.
To talk about 4.0 logistics may be relatively simple; complexity arises when the objective is, as in this case, to implement it in military institutions. This is so, largely, because we have to “change” the way of thinking and seeing the world; it is now unviable to continue to have a divided view of the environment, since the interconnection of equipments and the development of Information and Communication Technology, among other aspects, make us understand reality in a systemic way, as a whole that interacts as a network through a flow of information that, in its course, generates “action and reaction” impulses. Thus, support and logistic management of military operations in this new 4.0 environment becomes an unavoidable challenge for the National Defence sector in its permanent mission to contribute to the development, national security and growth of the countries.
