NICCOLÒ MACHIAVELLI’S REPUBLIC. GOVERNMENT, STATE AND POWER, IN LIGHT OF HIS WORKS

Abstract
This article refers to Niccolò Machiavelli’s life and work, his historic context and his exercise of power as politic advisor and counselor as well as his philosophical thoughts about State and government, citizenship and civic virtues, his most recognized works: The Prince and the Discourses, as well as his anthropologic and sociologic vision of the Renaissance; all of that leads him to create a new conception of Republic in the Florence of the XV century. This new vision who, although itis based and inspired by the philosophers of the Ancient history, also expresses his deep conviction regarding citizen virtues who that both the Prince and the governed must have and the practical exercise of power, likewise his conception of an autonomous State and far apart from external influences, thus giving rise to the current conceptions of making a new and better Republic type.
