ARGENTINA AND THE GULF: THE COMMITMENT TO GIVE CONTINUITY TO THE LINKS WITH THE ACTORS OF THE REGION DURING THE ADMINISTRATIONS OF MAURICIO MACRI AND ALBERTO 44 FERNÁNDEZ (2015-2021)
Main Article Content
Abstract
In recent years, the Gulf monarchies have gained relevance both re- gionally and internationally. So much so that, after the Arab Spring, the center of gravity in the Middle East has shifted towards the Gulf, allowing these countries to assume a leading role in the region. For its part, Argentina has been deepening its contacts with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait and Qatar. This in an instance in which a cooling of relations with other Arab countries in the region is perceived, with which traditionally closer ties were maintained. The present work seeks to study the evolution of Argentina’s political-di- plomatic, strategic and economic-commercial relations with these na- tions, as well as the factors that explain this evolution during the admi- nistrations of Mauricio Macri and Alberto Fernández.
