Abstract
The United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325, titled “Women, Peace and Security”, established a historic legal framework promoting the inclusion of women in decision-making processes regarding armed conflicts and peace operations. Chile has been a regional pioneer in implementing the First and Second National Action Plans for the resolution in 2009 and 2015, respectively. The country has also demonstrated a strong commitment to deploying troops in peace operations and updating its policies to integrate more female personnel into its Armed Forces. This essay analyzes the progress achieved by the implementation of Resolution 1325 within the Chilean Armed Forces, as well as the remaining challenges to fully realize its objectives.
